Statistics to Prove Expert Status as a Writer and a Disdain for the Domain

Today, I am the number one online article writer on the Internet, tomorrow someone may indeed zoom by me like I am standing still and yet, as some praise me and others attack me, I just laugh. You see, I use to have a disdain for writers, as a doer, because I was doing things and they were writing about it. Now in retirement, I am doing more writing than doing?

Recently, my expert status was challenged in this writing domain, which I have absolutely no care in the world about, but still I ask; who is the expert, the authority and who is to sit in judgment on this issue. Should the writer who sells the most books be considered the expert, after all let the reader decide, there are readers of all reading grade levels and of all interests across the spectrum. Even if I am not the world's best writer does it matter if the readers like what I write? My critics ask tough questions and my challengers state such things as am I qualified to talk about the subject, what are my stats?

Indeed, I am well qualified in the real world of achievement and estimate now some 40 million articles read considering 4.4 million article views here alone and 156,000 ezine publisher pick-ups; 10 eBooks written, One of many co-authors of a book still selling on the shelf since 1999 so that one is a smashing success with an extremely long life, well over 1 million copies sold now: Franchising 101.

One of my eBooks that has well over 1 million plus hits online since 1997: How to Run a Successful Car Wash Fundraiser. Yes a very simple book, yet one which gets a heck of a lot of play. Still, as far as writing is concerned, I do not consider myself a writer. I am very good at many things, but I do not consider writing to be amongst my strong suit. I stand by my resume and will put it up along side anyone's in the World. So, I accept that challenge, no worries.

I think statistics are important too, I think the reader ought to have something to say about value of an article. Writers and Authors often get their hackles up and sometimes get a little persnickety too. That is the nature of such folks, I have come to accept the writers for who they are and no longer consider them lesser of the doers, just different. But I can say this, I would rather read from a doer, who is a writer, than a mere writer who is pretending to be an expert or authority.

Article Marketing - You Don't Have to Write to Reap the Benefits

Providing quality content to your readers is golden and article marketing has been a proven marketing method many times over.

Writing informative articles is not the only way that article marketing will help your business:

1. Free Content

As for me I blog a lot, run several sites and coming up with posts seems impossible some days.

That's when I start to research articles that closely match my sites niche and use them as blog posts.

Email the author of the article and let them know you used their content including a link directly to their article.

2. Newsletters

Use articles to send out in newsletters.

Again I sometimes come up short with ideas for newsletters or would rather delegate the writing to someone else.

Keep your readers engaged by sending out regular newsletters with quality information and articles.

3. Start Your Own Article Directory

There are several ways that you can start your own article directory and one kickback is to make money from advertisements.

If you like your site more personalized you can hire a web designer to create one for you if you don't know how to already.

Search for free software or customizable templates that are actual article directory that you can create.

You can do what I do because I'm big on blogging so I made a mini directory as a part of one of my marketing blogs: Urban Writ

4. Ad Copy

An attention getting article can be used in web or print advertising. Post the article as a teaser and let readers know that they can find 'more information like this' at your website.

5. E-Zines

Search for articles that contain valuable content that your readers can appreciate. Instead of contacting the author to offer a guest spot use a series of their articles over a period of time.

Hidden Perks

Other benefits of using pre-written articles is the use of key phrases. A well written article may rank high for search engines and bring your web site to front page.

Sending the authors some traffic for work they have already done may get you some return traffic from their site.

Readers have the opportunity to deviate from your site by clicking the links in the resource box of the article. Keep in mind the time saved writing can be used to build your business instead.

Marketing Article - Why Write Marketing Articles?

At this point, I am going to assume that you write articles. So why write marketing articles?

I think that one of the reasons is that people are looking for marketing articles they want to learn how to do marketing, especially online marketing, web marketing, article marketing, etc.

When you write marketing articles and post them online to the various article directories, including the one this one was originally posted to, you gain web traffic via the search engines.

You see, people online search the web, and they generally will read the articles that come up in the top ten results of their search results in the search engine they used. And the big article directories, especially the one that this was originally published on, have the page rank to get your article to the top ten results, especially for 2nd and 3 rd tier and long tailed keywords.

So when you write marketing articles, you get world wide readership and that can mean world wide visitors to your web site. An astonishing number of the people that visit my web site, although I am in the US, are in countries all around the world. Literally all around the world. I think I have subscribers in every continent around the world maybe excluding Antarctica so if you are in Antarctica you know what to do!

Anyhow, write marketing articles, submit them to the top 5 article directories (or at least just the one this one was published first to) and watch the traffic roll in. By the way, you have to write more than 2 or 3!

Article Marketing - Where Should You Submit Your Articles?

One of the questions I often get about article marketing is where should the articles be submitted to. There are often two choices:

1) You can submit them to your own blog/website

2) You can submit them to article directories

Personally, I would submit my articles everywhere, even on forums. It doesn't matter. If you choose to rewrite them when you submit them to different places, then that is ok. Submit them everywhere to get maximum leverage out of each article.

While content is important, if there is no traffic, nobody is going to read it. So definitely look at building backlinks. You don't exactly need tons of content to get the spiders coming. But you do require tons of backlinks to increase your search engine rankings. And the more backlinks you have, the better off your website will be.

What I'd suggest is that for submissions to your own website, add your content in gradually on a weekly or fortnightly basis. This gives the search engine spiders fresh content to spider, so that will keep your search engine rankings high.

For article directories, I'd suggest submitting to the top directories. If you want to generate hundreds or even thousands of backlinks, then use an article submitter like Submit Your Article. Article Marketer is another submitter worth checking out. They will submit your articles automatically all around the web, giving you maximum exposure.

So that's my blueprint for submitting articles. And it's been generating a full-time income for me. Try it out and see how it works for you.

Article Marketing - Using Articles To Maintain Customers And Bring In New Business

Targeting a customer base allows for more consistency in your planning, so you should consider the use of articles to appeal to a specific audience. It is usually better to have a steady base subscriber or client pool than to have to market blindly with every new release, so use article marketing to build a core of customers. You need good articles, and whether you contract writers or write articles yourself, never forget that their purpose is to improve or create sales or subscriptions

So now you have a relatively steady pool of clientele - now what? In order to keep them coming back to your business again and again, you have to keep them involved in the happenings of the business. If you provide subscribers with involving information regularly, they will remain customers. But if they recognize your articles as uninteresting "fluff," they probably will lose interest in your company. Frequently providing customers with free gifts that are exclusive to your clients will keep you connected to your client base and improve customer relations. This is also a great way to keep clients informed about new offers, alterations in products or policies, or any other changes in your business that they will want to know about. Article marketing does all of this very well.

Just because you have taken steps to try to keep your existing customers, does not mean that you can ignore the possibility of gaining new customers. Use article marketing to entice new customers with a free gift or reward for subscribing to your web site or service. This is a good way to let them know you value their business and want to reward them for their support. Free articles are great for promotions and are very effective for the cost. These articles can promote your products while also providing useful and valuable information to your subscribers. It's a great tool that you should definitely consider.

Article Marketing - Why I Use Article Marketing To Generate Avalanches Of Leads

If you are doing any kind of article marketing now, you might be doing one of the following:

- promoting affiliate products to make commissions

- promoting your own sales page to sell products

- promoting a so-called Made-For-Adsense blog

- posting articles on your own blog to generate content

And I'll probably get 'killed' for saying this, but your articles are getting wasted.

Very few, and I mean very few, use article marketing solely to build a list. And lots of money is being left on the table, I'm afraid to say.

I basically do all the steps in Bum Marketing (the term created by Travis Sago to describe article marketing) but the difference is I promote a squeeze page to collect leads. The only way anyone can get extra information from me is if they enter their name and email address. I figured, if someone is not willing to give me those details, what more actually paying me online? Let's face it: we are running a business here, not a charity.

The reason why this is effective is because someone who likes your article is 'warmed up', he will want to get more information from you, and an email newsletter is the perfect way to do that.

So go and build a list with your articles. Write and submit multiple articles daily to top directories, and you will see floods (and I mean floods) of traffic and leads. Your lead generation will practically receive an instant boost. Your business will be given a positive kick up the rear from the results you get.
