Making Money with Your Blog!

A place for finding the Nuts and Bolts for Making Money Online with Affiliate Marketing Business Opportunity!

Without fresh, unique content, your website is destined for second best. Or even failure. The search engines won't cater to it and visitors will be bored and click elsewhere. If you want high-quality, action-taking visitors, then you need the best in one-of-a-kind content.

Perhaps you're using free articles to flesh out your web pages. Maybe you've taken the next step and invested in PLR (Private Label Rights) groups, where you can use their content and sign your own name. This is great in that it's fast. But that's where the advantage ends.

When the search engines come calling, they will immediately notice that your articles look exactly the same as other articles they've seen all over the web. Yes, this means your PLR articles, too, unless you've changed them to make them unique. This lowers the score they give your website, which in turn lowers the placement you'll get when a search engine user types in your keywords. The lower the search engines results placement, the less chance your site will be seen. Studies show that almost all clicks on search engine results happen in the first three pages of the results, and most happen on the first page. Chances are, no one will ever see your site if, when they searched for your exact keywords, your site ended up on page 674 of the results!

The search engines like to keep a little mystery, so they never reveal exactly how they score websites they visit. However, many things can be ascertained from observation. One is that if a site contains content that is duplicated on other sites, like the article directory you got it from, its score is lowered significantly. Remember, too, that your competitors are searching the same article databases and may be using the exact same articles you are. That won't give you a competitive advantage! You need unique content to get your score raised and your website shown on the first page. There's no way around it.

Fortunately, this isn't as hard as you may have led yourself to believe. Here's a method that will give you great unique content without tearing your hair out researching and writing from scratch. First, find an article you'd like to use, if it wasn't already out there. Now, simply rewrite it. Read the first paragraph. Read it again, until you've digested the content and understand it completely. Put the article aside. Rewrite the paragraph you just read in your own words. Move the second paragraph and repeat. Continue until the article is finished. You now have unique content that will be fresh meat to the hungry search engines. Higher scores, better results rankings, and better and more targeted visitors result.

Writing unique content brings in free, targeted traffic. This is a skill every Internet marketer learns to master. If you haven't yet, it's time to take that first step. Try the method outlined and see how easy it is. Don't forget to use that spell checker! Congratulations on taking your first steps to being a writer!

The first part of Tim's presentation was an introduction to his background. Most impressively, he works full time for the military from 6:30 am to 8:30 PM. This leaves him only the evening hours to focus on his 4-5 figure business. So Tim explains to us that if he can do this after working a full day and coming home at night tired, then we can certainly do it too. Tim has about 100 websites out there so far. He did have more, but a bunch were wiped out when his domain name registrar went under.

Tim starts the meat of his presentation quickly. He tells us that with the power of article marketing, we can:
1) Compete in highly niche topics
2) Receive traffic within 24-48 hours after the first article submission
3) Almost immediately start earning money
4) Create a daily income of $5 to $15 for each website
5) Identify the hot niche topics to further monetize

Tim's secret weapon is ezinearticles.com. If you are familiar with the 80/20 rule, you should be focusing most of your attention on ezinearticles.com. Learn that site well and you'll most likely get the best results from it.

Captain Gorman shares some monetization strategies with us including:
1) Putting adsense on our sites
2) Selling affiliate products
3) Selling ebooks (through private label rights, or our own ebooks)
4) Selling ClickBank.com products
5) Building a mailing list

Tim then shared with us the parts of a great article:
1) An effective title
2) An effective article summary
3) A good quality article (the body)
4) A great resource box with a call to action

He gives us some tips on the title, including making it shocking, keyword rich, or both. He gives some great (and humorous) examples of effective titles.

Next Tim gives us some advice for the body of the article. He tells us we need quality content, short paragraphs, numbers or bullets, subheadings, and keywords in the articles. He shares that keyword density is not super important in his experience.

The resource box is an extremely important part of article marketing. You can put a link in your resource box to send readers directly to your site and also for the linking benefits. Tim also mentions the concept of deep linking (linking to a page within your site, not just the home page).

Things got fun after that...

Tim shared exactly what he does in his 6 step approach:
1) Choose 3 Niche Topics
2) Build a Small 5 Page Site for Each Topic
3) Use articles to determine which of the three he should focus on
4) Perform his "Article Blitz" on that website
5) Start getting high pr one way links
6) Repeat steps 1-5

He went on to tell us exactly what he does and how he does it. This is part one of a three part article.

Three Things You Must Do Before You Submit To Article Directories

To all writers and non-writers out there, now is the time to start digging up those creative writing skills. With modern communication technology comes the popularity of information-based marketing, which is one of the oldest and most effective techniques in getting targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers. This is

As you write articles to use for marketing purposes, you will be able to write quicker and with greater efficiency over time. With that speed and efficiency comes toxic traps that you must be aware of.

These are the pitfalls of poor article marketing:

  • Not being consistent. Article writing and marketing is fun in the beginning. But when the new wears off and writing articles on a regular basis becomes hum-drum, you may start to slack off on writing and submitting. Don't fall into this trap!
TIP: Set a doable goal to write and submit a specific amount of articles each week.

  • Poorly written content. It's easy to get in such a rush to write articles that you stop concentrating on the quality of your articles. Don't fall into this trap!
TIP: Remember that real people with real questions and concerns will be reading your articles.

  • Ignoring basic writing "rules." We all hate rules, but they're simply a fact of life. It behooves every writer to remember the basic rules of writing (proper grammar, perfect spelling, etc.) and apply them to each article.
TIP: When your eyes get tired, hire a professional proofreader/editor to go through your articles with a fine-toothed comb.

  • Writing in inconsistent tones. Every writer has a unique voice. If you are writing with different markets in mind, you might find yourself trying to write in different tones. Be careful that you don't dilute the message of the article by writing in these different voices.
TIP: Stay true to your writing voice and write like you talk.

  • Giving little or no valuable information inside the article. Every time you sit down to write an article, ask yourself, "What is the meat of this article?" Then write your article based on that answer.
TIP: Every article should have at least one complete, or main, idea.

  • No call to action in the resource box. If you are writing articles for the purpose of marketing, then you are wasting your time if you don't compel your readers to do something at the end of the article. Give them a reason to click on your link.
TIP: Take the reader by the hand and lead them; tell them exactly what to do.

Making Money with Your Blog!

Everyone seems to agree that articles are a phenomenal way of getting a good foothold in your online niche space - with all of the tips, tricks and fads, it seems pretty certain that article marketing will be a solid and secure strategy for years to come, right? What amazes me nonetheless is how SO many people seem to take a simple and straightforward strategy and just muck the whole thing up in the name of a few quick bucks and a quick end around approach to building a real business, rather than simply putting in the effort to make it happen.

The good news it this: If you aren't one of the sheep at the back of the pack buying into all of the boisterous buffoonery that the guys at the top want you to believe, and are willing to work hard, articles that you write for both content, and promotion are going to give you a HUGE leg up on your lackluster competition. For the rest of you who are going for the quick fix, here are a few of the TOP ways you should keep in mind as you strive to chase your tail for another few years..:-)

1) Don't write ANY of your own content. Simply spend your paycheck buying PLR memberships, article spinners and content creation programs. The guys selling all of these programs REALLY appreciate your patronage, and should you make the rash decision to actually create some unique, valuable content, many of these guys would have to find another meal ticket to milk. This wouldn't be nice to do, especially around the holidays.

2) Mass submit all of your articles to EVERY directory on the net. The more times your exact article shows up in every PR 0 and 1 directory online, the more of an authority you appear to be. Remember, all of those splogs that are carrying your content is a good thing - and paying that service to ensure that your apple pie recipe shows up in the travel directories database does help too. The more the merrier.

3) In your resource box - make sure you talk A LOT about yourself. Share all the awards you have won, and make sure to post a picture of yourself with a tank top on, because that REALLY juices up your click through rates. ( no pun intended) If you've got a cool pair of sunglasses, make sure you have them on when you take the picture to include in your bio, too. Also - if you have 20 free blogs, make sure to list at least 10 of them here, preferably in alphabetical order.

That's it! If you follow these three simple steps, well - let's just say you'll join the hundreds, if not thousands of other article marketers following these sure fire strategies for an ignominious end to their internet marketing aspirations. Or - you could simply roll your sleeves up, give up on the gurus, and get to work..:-) Either way, have fun and good luck!

Article marketing is an easy, powerful and effective way to market your business.

Here's a checklist you can use for every article you write.

1. Know your goal for each article

What's your goal for your article? Your goal may be to provide links and traffic to your Web site, or to promote a product or your services.

Write your goal down. When you're writing, it's very easy to forget what your goal was.

2. What's your reader's takeaway?

Each article needs to have a takeaway - a benefit - for your reader. This enhances your credibility, and makes it more likely that the reader will visit your site via the links in your resource box to see what else you have to offer.

Write down your takeaway.

3. Develop your keywords so your readers will find you

Research the most appropriate keywords for your article. Collect five to 10. You'll emphasize two to three in the article, the others will be added to article's Web page meta tags.

4. Develop an intriguing title that's relevant and includes a promise

Think of your article's title as a headline. It's the most important part of your article, because it attracts attention, and it should include the promise of a benefit to the reader.

Make sure the title is relevant to your article, and includes your most important keyword.

5. Write the article, delivering on your promise

When you're writing your article, ensure that you deliver on the promise you made in the title. Unless you deliver, your reader will have no incentive to click through to your site - he no longer trusts you, because you don't keep your promises.

6. Write the resource box for the article

Your "resource box" has a single goal - to get the reader to click through to your landing page for the article. Make another promise of a benefit if the reader clicks.

7. Post the article on your site

Add the article to your Web site as site content, adding links to products and services relevant to the article.

8. Post the article to an article directory

Should you post your article to several article directories for promotion and traffic, or just one?

Some article marketers believe that you should post your articles to many directories. However, I prefer to post to a single directory. It saves time and I haven't noticed any benefits from posting to many directories. Your mileage may be different.

So there you have it - your article marketing checklist. It will increase the speed at which you can write effective articles by giving you a method to follow.

Viral marketing is a methods of list building

There are multiple methods of list building, and if you are just getting started, until you have gained mastery over one or two methods, it is advisable to use multiple methods of list building strategies. You’ll see every step of the process, no matter how small, in exacting detail so

Search Engine Optimization is a powerful tool that can be used to increase the level of relevant traffic to your website. Used correctly, optimisation is a fantastic way to boost your business. However there are some pitfalls to watch out for.

Take a look at a few of the reasons why SEO campaigns have failed and make sure you learn from their mistakes.

1. Bad Keywords - Make sure the text on your website is uncomplicated and reflects what your company is about. You need to be sure that people searching for your website will use your terminology, and more importantly, know what it means. Common mistakes include making keywords too specific, using technical jargon which only fellow professionals can understand and generalising terms so they become generic and bring in the wrong type of person.

2. Page format - Good optimisation takes into account the format of your webpage. Make sure your sections are placed in a logical way which draws customers in. It's also important to have enough page content. As a rule of thumb look to write a minimum 200-300 words on each page of your site. Don't forget that websites are for humans not search engine spiders.

3. Don't forget to build links - Part of a good optimisation campaign includes building links from other websites into yours. In simplistic terms the more people who link to you without you offering a reciprocal link, the better your rating will become. Link building is perhaps the most important aspect of Google optimisation and can help to push you to the top of the page.

4. Work with a reliable internet marketing company - Some SEO consultants will use illegitimate means to boost your website and give the impression that you are receiving more hits. This can be done by using multiple names, owning shadow domains or by guaranteeing rankings with obscure keyword phrases which are not relevant to your business. Make sure the company you use explains how they will be getting more hits on your site. The concepts relating to SEO are fairly simple. If the company you use is being secretive about their methods make sure you find out why.

5. Consult a professional - Unless you are a specialist in SEO you should consider consulting with a reputable company. A professional internet marketing consultant who cares about his or her work and is dedicated to making your site a success can easily save you from the blunders that could cost you time, resources and money.

6. Do some market research - Make sure the words you use are relevant to the business you want to receive. Several proprietary keyword research tools are available. Wordtracker, for example, is an extensive tool that allows you to find popular search terms, the frequency with which they are entered into search engines, as well as the amount of indexed sites that are competing.

7. Monitor and maintain your internet marketing campaign - After successfully optimising your site, check back and make sure your rankings are being maintained. This is also a good method of checking who your competition is. If you don't want to check all your keywords manually there is automatic software available such as Google's web API.

8. Keep up to date - The most effective SEO campaigns are changing all the time. Make you sure you, or your internet marketing specialist, are continually keeping up to date with progressions in the marketplace. This can include staying abreast of blog pages, newsletters, forum postings or case studies.
